Days vacant
The number of days a unit has been empty since the last resident moved out.
Days vacant counts from move-out until the next resident moves in (or until today, for a unit still empty). It combines turn time, marketing time and the wait between lease signing and move-in.
Every vacant day is lost rent: a $1,500 unit loses about $50 a day. Watching days vacant by unit type shows where pricing or turn speed needs attention.
