Vacancy loss

Rent a property did not earn because units sat empty during the period.

Vacancy loss equals the market rent of each vacant unit multiplied by the portion of the period it was vacant, added up across the property. A $1,500 unit vacant for 20 days of a 30-day month carries $1,000 of vacancy loss.

It is one of the largest deductions from gross potential rent, and it responds directly to faster turns, better pricing and quicker lead follow-up.
